Thackley Juniors Becomes a Mental Health Aware Club.

Hi I am Megan,

And would like to take this opportunity to introduce the club as now being a MENTAL HEALTH AWARE CLUB, we achieved this status on the 9th July 2019.

I am 1 of the 3 level 2 mental health champions at Thackley Juniors and alongside me are Mathew Everett and Joanne Howard.

As a club we felt strongly in regards to mental health wether it is a child a coach or even a parent.

We are really passionate at being on board with mental health moving forward, and have started by all our coaches achieving level 1 in mental health, so they can look out for signs and help at an early stage.

Our Mental Health sessions were deliverd by ALL SPORT PRO, and were greatly received, the stats are pretty scary with 3 in 4 mental health illnesses starting in a person before the age of 18, with the same 3 in 4 young person not receiving help, 51% of young people would be embarrassed being diagnosed with a mental health condition, & most young people with mental health ends with suicide, 16 million people in the uk alone will experience some form of mental helath, I could go on and on with statistics but what we want to do is be here if were needed to offer help and support.

There are many forms of mental health, and many different reasons for mental health, but we can all help tackle it when it is on our radar.

As a club we are not here to diagnose, be a councillor or any other medical professional, but we are here to be a 1st port of call if needed, so for any parent/carer/coach/helper if you feel that something is wrong as a coach at level 1 you can follow protocol as per course, as a parent/carer/young person if you need help GET IN TOUCH, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, EVERYTHING IS CONFIDENTIAL!!
